Avowed Fails To Deliver Once Again...
176Hype for Avowed started to dwindle after the first gameplay reveal 6 months ago.
Today was a chance for Obsidian to show people that while it wouldn't be a "Skyrim clone" like was first implied, that their own approach to RPGs that have worked for them in the past would be at the forefront with Avowed.
After today I'm not so sure. The focus on today's reveal seemed to be on combat which while serviceable, isn't going to be selling anyone on the game and also graphics, which while decent enough are not really the first priority for RPG fans.
The elements of Characters and Quests we got in today's reveal, were at best underwhelming. The voice acting is putrid and the way they presented the side quest made them look incompetent. To me it suggests that the game is far from ready and releasing in 2024 will mean we get something very unfinished in places, either that or Obsidian may have lost it.
