Back in 1995 was like Silent Hill but in bad
207In the mid-nineties, the world of horror games was still alright. It was a very harsh and pixelated wonderland, but it still left us incredibly scared. Resident Evil taught us to be scared with clunky polygon dogs and doors that took longer to load than the actual scares, while Silent Hill gave us goosebumps with fog and disturbing sounds.
And then, many years later, in 2016, Takaaki Ichijo decided to revive it all. Including wonky controls, gritty textures, and that wonderful awkwardness you usually only experience when you're having a checkup with a proctologist.
The result is titled Back in 1995 and does indeed feel like a broken PS1 game from the good old days. Whether it actually lives up to its promise, though, is another matter.
