Xena was the heroine of the PS1!
There was once a magical time on television when you would sit spellbound in front of the TV on Sunday afternoons and tune into Xena. Supposedly because of the adventures, god battles, epic heroic deeds, and a hand-crafted story. In any case, at the end of 1999, someone had the brilliant idea to bring this concept to the PlayStation. And that was, of course, the best thing that could have happened to the dedicated fan.
A world of muddy textures, sharp-edged polygons, and mythological enemies that look as if they had been painstakingly carved from a single piece of balsa wood. The artwork, published by Electronics Arts, brought the hotly contested action-adventure market to an unprecedented level.
But how did this piece of software, which offered as much eroticism as a folding chair, perform in real-life conditions? Did the gameplay meet the fans' expectations?
