The first part of my comprehensive video walkthrough of "Back to the Future: the Game - Episode 1: It's About Time". I found that the quality of videos for this game somewhat lacking in determines of guidance, explanation, or direction, so this is my attempt at providing a quick and efficient walkthrough for people needing help.

As a forewarning, Telltale Games has put a lot of content into the game that is not mandatory to see. This content is generally extra jokes, references, and other witty dialogue that makes the game more enjoyable and fun. Because of this, I HIGHLY recommend every single player to explore EVERYTHING they can to get maximum enjoyment out of the game.

As an additional note, in some cases, a few steps in my guide can be swapped and the outcome will still be the same. Consider the guide as both a step-by-step walkthrough and a checklist of what needs to be done to advance the game. Finally, if I don't prompt any particular dialogue option, it means that it doesn't matter which one you select to get to the next section of the game.

Step-by-Step Guide

Introduction
-The story will advance regardless of which dialogue option you select
@03:52 - Check the "Toolbox" by the van to get Doc's Notebook

Doc's Laboratory
@08:05 - Click on the "Jukebox" located against the back wall of Doc's lab (this is not a fixed step, clicking on anything that makes Marty's Father intervene with a confrontation between Marty and Biff will trigger the required dialogue needed with Marty's Father)
@08:23 - Check the "Town Square Model" right by the Jukebox for a cut scene
@09:25 - Walk back to the first area and talk to "George" (Marty's Father), select the option "I can fight my own fights, Dad" (this will prevent George from intervening with Biff)
@10:05 - Retrieve "Marty's Guitar" in the box George hefted onto the counter earlier
@10:18 - Click on the "Amplifier Controls" to boost the volume
@10:33 - Go to your Inventory and Use "Marty's Guitar" on the "Amplifier Controls" for a cut scene
@11:55 - Click on the "DeLorean" that just appeared for another cut scene
@12:43 - Click on the "Shoe" in the leg area of the passenger seat
@12:51 - Click on the "Handheld Tape Recorder" located on the passenger seat (alternatively, if you try to leave, Marty will notice the tape recorder as well)
@14:05 - Leave the DeLorean, then go to your Inventory and Use the "Mysterious Shoe" on "Einstein" to find out who the shoe belongs to
