FFXI - Mictlantecuhtli (Abyssea - Tahrongi Corses NM) - WHM Solo

Mictlantecuht (A rather unpronounceable name, isn't it?) is a Corses NM located in Abyssea - Tahrongi. Mictlantecuht (who will now be refered to as Mic) is an interesting (and annoying) fight. It has the unique property of absorbing physical damage while meleeing and magical damage while casting or using a TP move. Thus, this is a fight of keeping your back turned and hammering Mic at appropriate instances. This is where an Atma like Voracious Violet shines because TP regain will allow you to WS much sooner when you actually can hurt Mic.
Also note that Mic takes increased damage when you can hit him (I smack him for a 6,780 Hexa Strike at around the 3:00 mark). Rumour has it that it is double damage, which, when combined with Corses natural weakness to Blunt damage, makes a WHM or MNK an ideal damage dealer against this NM.
Most of the NMs spells are laughable but one. Mic's Drain hits for abnormally high damage. Because of this, it is imperative to have shadows and/or high HP to prevent death. Also, this Corses has an unusually high Double Attack rate, and can crit fairly decently. It is possible to be double critical-ed for well over 800 damage. Keeping it Slowed and Paralyzed is highly recommended.
/NIN is the recommended sub job because it will allow block the majority of Mic's melee swings. And you can't really do too much else while waiting for him to cast or TP you. Keep a supply of Echo Drops for when it decides to use Silence Seal and try to keep Mic Dia'd because Corses do have a Charm attack as well. This way it won't regain HP while you're charmed.
