Backlog Resolution: Tomb Raider 1 Remastered: Colosseum Part 2
So I looked up a video for a couple things here, namely the solution to a pressure plate puzzle I didn't even need to do because of the spike pit shortcut, and more importantly, the Magnum Secret. I found a use for the modern controls, and also noticed the modern graphics actually show you where the magnum pressure plate is while the original graphics don't. I'm glad I went back for that secret because the two big med pacs were a great addition to my collection. And the magnums were nice too, I guess.
This is the first time I've actually had to look up any puzzles before doing them, and they were both technically optional. My mistake. I've been trying to play these backlog games as blind as possible, which is part of why the gameplay is all over the place. But the point is to have fun and gain some new experiences, and it's been great so far.
Tomb Raider was first released in 1996 after two years of development for the Playstation by Core Design. The protagonist Lara Croft and the game series have gone on to be big parts of popular culture in the nearly 30 years since, but the original trilogy hasn't fully been remastered for modern systems until now. With a graphics toggle, new control options, the PC exclusive expansion levels, and even a New Game Plus mode, Tomb Raider Remastered might be the definitive way to experience Lara's first adventure for modern audiences.
