Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Respond To Recent Criticism… (The Mod/Patch Drama)
106Baldur’s Gate 3 & Larian have gotten a lot right, but recently there has been some understandable criticism related to patches creating as many issues as they’re solving while player’s mods are also getting broken.
The criticism is understandable, though I do think Larian’s missteps don’t come from a bad place, they need to get better with how they release their patches but I think they come from a place of good intent unlike other big game publishers where I’d assume the worst (rushing patches so they can get on with their next project).
Larian’s response is mostly around over the top toxic fans making threats, which is obviously odd and shouldn’t be condoned, though I don’t think it should hand wave genuine criticism.
From here I think Larian should take more time with their patches, the game at least to me is in a solid enough state where there’s no rush to fix things, take your time so the patches become a universally positive experience rather than one filled with drama and discontent.
Looking forward to official Mod Support and hopefully fan made campaigns etc. in future…
