Bare Knuckle III / Streets of Rage 3 - SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis - Removed Motorbike stages [4K60]
35A number of magazines in the 90s, showed screenshots of prototype / beta / unfinished motorbike stages of Bare Knuckle III that never made it into the final game. In the end thanks to a debug menu it turned out that these stages did end up in the final game, but had been cut from normal play. Largely in part we suspect due to the fact they are clearly unfinished and lack combat. However with a Game Genie or Pro Action Replay you are able to access these stages via a special debug menu. Early screenshots showed the players riding bikes on Stage 2-1 in the game. However the two levels included on the cartridge were meant to take place at the start of round 7 and the stage you got depended on if you saved the general or not.
The first half of the video, is a commentated overview by our editor on these removed sectioned. The second half shows both stages in full, warts and all. The player sprites are bugged due to their art being in a different part of the ROM to where the game calls them. Hence why the sprite appears as a glitchy mess instead in-game and go invisible when you move the d-pad.
