Hey hey folks and welcome to the latest installment of Dave's Impressions. This first impressions / review video on Bastion was made after playing the game for around 1 hour. Enjoy!

In my video on Pyre, when I said I wanted to check out the other games in Supergiant's catalogue, I didn't think I'd be doing it so quickly. After playing Transistor, Bastion seems like a bit of a step backward. Like the gameplay, customization, and polish of art and music from their initial effort was improved upon. Bastion is a fine first effort though. It's smooth to play, unique in its art, and in the device of the narrator telling the tale of the Kid as the player is controlling them. I found myself curious what had happened to the world, and how the rebuilding of the Bastion would ultimately fare. The levels are short enough to never outstay their welcome which gives the player plenty of chances to experiment with a new arsenal if they so choose, although I wish I could have gone into a menu and changed my loadout at multiple points through some of the levels.
