Hey hey folks, and welcome to the latest installment of Dave's Impressions. This first impressions / review video on Pyre was made after playing the game for around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Enjoy!

Pyre is highly original. The player has been thrown into a purgatory for being "a reader" and meets a caravan of masked figures. They form a sports team and travel the countryside, participating in game after game in order to earn their freedom. I'm not even kidding. Pyre is a magical sports RPG. The characters gain experience and level up after matches, can equip items, and there's downtime between "fights" where the characters talk to each other and the player makes decisions on where to go next, and which passage to travel (which bestows differing rewards). The "fights" themselves are kind of like a 3-on-3 Basketball game. Only one team member can move at a time, and the opposing team has an aura that will banish any player who touches it. This aura can be launched as a beam towards another player, removing them from play for a little while. When a team member puts the ball into the goal, they are also removed from the game for a little while. Pyre is highly original and features excellent audio/visual presentation. To gain a greater understanding of what I thought about the game, please watch the video.
