Treachery in Beatdown City is a throwback to old school beat em ups like River City Ransom, with one huge difference; the combat is that of a turn based RPG. The game is paying homage to the conventions of the video games of the past, but with modern sensibilities and references. The game looks and sounds like its an old NES release. Despite being turn based, the combat is fun, strategic, and exciting, using a combo system, and rewarding the player with faster action bar regeneration and an increase in fight points for every successful combo pulled off. This increase in ability when the fight is going our way gives the player the ability to block and deflect most of what the opponent is dishing out. Sadly I only worked that out during my final fight. Find out more in the video!
