Sudden Strike 4 is a real-time tactics video game set in World War II. It is the fifth game in the Sudden Strike series and the fourth standalone release. It is the first game developed by Kite Games, a collaboration of industry veteran game developers.Originally, it was scheduled to be released for PC and PlayStation 4 on June 27, 2017, but was delayed until August 11 and 15, for PC and PlayStation 4, respectively.
The battle of Saipan (from June 15 to July 9, 1944) was named after a prominent island in the Mariana islands, and involved its invasion bu US troops after a two day intensive bombardment from the ocean. Part of a larger military maneuver to bypass the Caroline Islands and secure the Mariana Islands, the operation would cut off the Japanese forces in the Southernmost and Western shores of the island on the 15th, and even though the Japanese expected a major attack elsewhere along their front lines, the fought fiercely to hold Saipan. The first days of the battle ended with a Japanese counterattack on the American beachhead that was repelled with heavy casualties. Even in defeat, the Imperial troops charge the invaders in a suicidal offensive. Meanwhile, the Japanese Navy fought the Battle of the Philippine Sea, which ended in a disaster for them, and with the fall of Saipan, led to future US successes.
