1/23/2014: FINALLY, here it is, a toadally deathless complete run (no warps or shortcuts, with cut scenes) of Battletoads while playing as the second player, Zitz!

I chose to use Zitz for two main reasons:

a) No one had previously posted a deathless run with this toad
b) So that I could technically say that I beat the game on 2P player mode without dying ;)

Anyway, Zitz happens to be particularly glitchy in Level 8, as the screen scrolls upwards much more quickly whenever he jumps, potentially leading to a fatal glitch just before battling the boss, Robo-Manus.

Speaking of that infamous glitch, it can be found following this run (and the post-game toadally rad pause music celebration) in the Battle Blooper Reel that was put together to give you all an idea of what I went through, with all of the deaths/glitches that put a TEMPORARY halt to the ideal run.

Regardless of what happened from game to game, the key was always to NEVER give up & to somehow persist through all of the game's troll-like tendencies. It was only a matter of time before all of the hard work would toadally pay off!

So whenever something seems to be IMPOSSIBLE, remember, it's always up to YOU to make it POSSIBLE!

And now it is time for a breakdown of my history with Battletoads for the NES:

1991-As a kid, reviews of Battletoads found in video gaming magazines, such as Game Player's and Gamepro got me all hyped for this TMNT-like adventure (they actually happen to be TOADALLY different, as I know now hahaha!).

However, since I was only able to get one NES game per year and had already gotten P.O.W. for my ninth birthday, I would just have to wait another year before getting my hands on Battletoads :).

June 24th, 1992-Battletoads came into my life for my tenth birthday, thanks to my parents :). It seemed like such a great game at first, as I found Levels 1 and 2 to be toadally rad, but then came Level 3, yeah, THAT one, the infamous Turbo Tunnel, which proceeded to make me toadally mad! I was WAY too green and inexperienced as a video gamer at that point in time to stand any chance of beating Battletoads without cheating.

June 24th, 1993-Since I had no chance in hell of finishing this game as a child, an episode of Gamepro TV inspired me to want to get the Game Genie, as there were codes to warp directly to the final level of Battletoads, start with infinite lives, as well as being able to Mega-jump over most of the obstacles/enemies, so I just had to toadally get this cheating device for my eleventh birthday!

December 1994-After fraudulently beating Battletoads with the use of the Game Genie and being satisfied with seeing the ending, the game was basically picking up dust, so I decided to give it to my friend Costanzo for his birthday, since he had recently gotten an NES around that point in time. I never once heard him mentioning the game afterwards, so it's pretty obvious what happened there hahaha :).

1998-With Battletoads already out of my life for several years now, I instead had to do battle with real-life acne, which clearly sucked @$$, but hey, that's just a part of growing up, for most people anyway!

Early 2004-As the amount of rashes, pimples & zits reduced across my body, fate had a funny way of throwing Battletoads back into my life, thanks to my friend Mark Eric Camp, who sent it to me as a gift. Thanks, dude!

Being a much wiser & more experienced video gamer who, for whatever reason, now loved to take on ridiculous challenges, I actually believed that I was READY to beat Battletoads legitimately from start to finish!

The computer technology had improved to the point that I could play each level on an emulator & practice each one with the use of save states, saving a TON of time in the process!

After about two weeks of consistent practice, I gained a good sense of what to expect from Battletoads & was therefore confident enough to apply my new found knowledge & beat the game on the NES itself.

Before I knew it, Battletoads was beaten, but I wasn't completely satisfied with just finishing the game & wanted to do more, but little did I know just how much MORE!

Nearly ten years went by before I decided to play Battletoads again, while working on a special cut scene compilation in September of 2013 & the rest is now history!

Special thanks goes out to TheMexicanRunner for inspiring me with his Battletoads brilliance at Awesome Games Done Quick 2014, as well as jc583 for his continued dominance in the same game. Both of these guys are TOADALLY better than me at Battletoads, trust me hahaha!

I dedicate this run to my mega awesome friend, Lisa, hope that you had a Mega Happy Birthday!

Played by Daniel "DTysonator" Teixeira on an original NES console while using a regular controller and absolutely no cheating, dudes and dudettes, YEAH!
