Bayonetta 3: Chapter 1 - Scrambling for Answers (Standard, All 13 Verses)
Now we finally get to the actual Chapters. Chapter 1 is VERY front-loaded, so hopefully I can write about everything it shows, here.
----------
Bayonetta, Jeanne, and Rodin returns to the latter's bar, The Gates of Hell, to discuss about the new monsters that are neither Paradiso's Angels nor Inferno's Demons. Enzo was here, too, as well as that new girl Viola that fell on him.
They are called the Homunculi. They are man-made abominations that are capable of eliminating all of existence. Their Clouds of Erasure will even erase the strongest of witches. Stay out of it during gameplay.
Viola was brought to this world because she needed Bayonetta and Jeanne's help to stop the Homunculi before they eliminate the entire Multiverse. In the midst of this help, the two witches were shocked to learn that Viola was a witch-in-training herself, one that already knew them in her own world before it was wiped out. Rodin suspected that the Homunculi were actually trying to assemble to break down every universe, re-merge it into one mass, and use that power to eliminate all reality.
Viola needed Jeanne to find a scientist named Sigurd, while she needed Bayonetta to help her find all the Chaos Gears to beat the Homunculi leader, Singularity.
Viola also had an Infernal Demon of her own: A giant stuffed cat named Cheshire. Using his bike, Bayonetta and Jeanne flew from the United States to reach an island made by the Umbra and Lumen known as Thule. It looks like another man was also waiting for them, as well as more Homunculi.
Thule has windows in the sky that let you glimpse at other universes.

When you're not busy fighting, take some time to explore the area. There are quite a few collectable to find, and you will need to find some Verses and challenges like this.
12:26 - Find and break these boxes on the ground to get a shard. Find 4 of these to put it back together an unlock an extra "Chapter" later.
Niflheims/Muspelheims return, this time just called "Challenges". You can try these special Verse as many times as you want. Just beat their conditions.
----------
When traveling through Thule, you have to look for Chaotic Rifts that warp you to Ginnungagap. These realms are bridges that bring Bayonetta to different universes.
At the end of this path, she will end up in Tokyo, Japan, starting a Homunculi fight in one of that city's trains before using Gomorrah to slide, leap, surf, and battle across many of the Tokyo buildings and rivers destroyed by those monsters.
Verse 5 is chock full of this, but it ends once Gomorrah is temporarily killed by the Iridescent. Bayonetta saw from there that it contains a Chaos Gear, and now traveled through the Shibuya streets to go after it.
----------
There are now precisely three Umbran Tears of Blood to find per chapter. Each of these are worn by a black cat, a crow, and a toad. You will have to chase after the cats and crows, but you'll need to listen for the toads since they stay in place. Collect all three to get a Phenomenal Remnant mission.
One special kind of Homunculi is called a Congestus. When Bayonetta gets close to it, it will force her back to a child body with almost none of her witch powers. You have to rush over to it, and let Little Cereza push it down. Then you can use its powers to reverse or advance the flow of time of your surroundings. Set it at a right point in time to try and make a frozen path, and then you'll have to take Cereza through this path to try and pick up some goodies before the present is restored.
45:40 - Some tasks will have you collect some pieces in a limited amount of time before you can truly unlock a treasure chest.
46:43 - Angels and Demons are no longer the main enemies, but they can be fought at certain spots if you can find them.
50:33 - Halos can still be found, but you'll mostly be collecting Lotus Seeds now. Rodin has adjusted his Gates of Hell shop for this, but you can still give him Halos for certain products, namely those in "Rodin's Treasures".
Your first visit here will be finished with a new free weapon: A massive and explosive rifle called the G-Pillar. Changing weapons will also affect Bayonetta's air actions and dashing abilities via Demon Masquerade.
----------
Since Bayonetta is in Japan, the residents here, such as the soldiers she helps out, will likewise speak Japanese no matter what audio language you have your game set to. You'll also hear this on your way in and through the sewers.
Lastly, this game lets you unlock and use skills, which are fueled by the Souls you get from killing monsters. You now also have to manually pick whether or not to use full Witch Hearts and Moon Pearls to increase your health and magic.

After one more fight in a train station, Bayonetta had a strange sight of Jeanne, or rather... a different Jeanne...
