Beating All NA N64 Games - Doom 64 (10 of 296) [Watch Me Die!; 100% Secrets]
RANKING: A+
This is what Doom 3 should have been. This game adds more horror elements, while retaining the fast-pace shooting gallery gameplay of the original game. Doom 3 threw out what Doom made Doom, and that hurt it.
Storyline wise, this takes place after the 1st two games, it seems the dead demons have been revived and we have to go back to the Mars Moon bases and clear it out. So we gotta go through 25 levels and kill the Mother Demon and stop the hellish evil.
The music has changed from rock to this scary atmospheric soundtrack, which I like and fits the more horror atmosphere that they were going for. Sound effects were also changed, sounds like some of them were taken from the Terminator movies.
I rented this one back when it came out, and having played the more advance Turok, this seemed like a step back, I did like, though. It seems in recent years this game is getting the praise it deserves: it having a mod release for it made on PC and the re-release on the Switch.
I highly recommend it, it's less of a realistic simulation shooter and more of a fast pace arcade shooter with horror elements.
