Hello friends I am DragoNate and today I will be showing you what the absolute best live streaming chat overlay is, at least for 2018 and in my opinion. Restream.io is a service that allows you to live stream to multiple platforms at once. Using this service, you can live stream to YouTube, Twitch, Mixer and more, all at the same time! There's a hug problem when it comes to streaming to multiple platforms though: the chat. Paying attention to your chat is super important when live streaming because you need to engage your viewers while they're watching. If you have multiple chats to focus on, this can become very difficult and you risk missing some messages. Fear not, for Restream.io has their own live stream chat overlay that integrates seamlessly with their service and with OBS! With Restream's webchat, all chat messages from each platform you stream to will show in one single window! You can even add their webchat URL to a browser source in OBS so that your viewers can see chat on screen! One window for all chats! It's perfect! You'll never miss another chat message again!
The best things about Restream.io live streaming chat overlay is that it has transparency and a couple other features that make it stand out. You can adjust message and chat window transparency directly in the Restream chat's settings, so you don't have to play with settings in OBS. Restream also has a chat window for you, as the streamer, to view. There's a few awesome features with this:
- Transparency: You can see right through the chat window, so it doesn't obstruct your view of anything else on your desktop.
- Always on top: Never accidentally block view of your chat and risk missing a message!
- Click through window: You can click RIGHT THROUGH the chat window to whatever is behind it! To interact with the chat window, just hold Ctrl and click, or customize the button press.
- Reply to all: You can reply to ALL of your chats by sending a single message! If you want to share a link to your viewers or thank them or something else, you can type a message in your Restream chat window and it will send it to each of your chats on your behalf. Or, you can select a specific platform.
All of these features combined mean that you can have the chat window directly on top of the game you're playing without it obstructing your view of the game, going behind the game when in fullscreen, or having it interfere when playing the game. Plus, you don't have to look away from the game to see your chat!
Restream chat even has it's own bot that you can fully customize the commands of. My only suggestion for Restream to improve their chat service is to add more customization options. It would be awesome to customize the font of the chat and even color. Maybe make it possible to change per platform as well so that YouTube chat color can be red and Twitch chat can be purple, or whatever else you choose! Anyway, I am in love with Restream's live streaming chat overlay and it is seriously the best thing I've found out there.
