BEST SETTINGS -- GTX 1070 -- GTA V
If you watch the whole video, you'll notice that A LOT of the game is playing at 70fps, or better. Some of it is even at 100+fps. But, in some really busy parts, it goes down to below 60fps. That's why the game isn't maxed out. The point is to have the game look GOOD, but also keep a good frame rate.
I started in a grassy area to show how the game does out there. (Trevor's starting area, followed by hills that are more grassy, but Trevor's starting area has always affected frame rate for me)
My favorite part starts at about 23:30 and lasts until pretty much the end of the video.
Settings are shown in the first couple of minutes. If you're just here to snatch the settings and leave, please consider liking the video. It helps other people discover these settings and this performance demonstration.

Of note... This is actually, my HTPC system, and I used ShadowPlay, set to record at 4K to record this. Those two factors have likely affected performance. I'll test on two other i7 equipped systems to see how the game fares there. (these settings should still be a good baseline, though. you may be able to turn something up, if your system has more headroom, but even if you don't, these settings still look good.)
Further note... This was recorded in 4K, but none of my devices offer to play it back in 4K. Not sure what's up with that. ShadowPlay has long been a recording technique that I have not perfected. But... This video file was more than 20GB, and it took all night to upload, so you would hope that it would play back in 4K. Hopefully, it plays in 4K, for some of you. (even though actual game play is 1080p, I attempted to record in 4K to improve the quality)
