McPixel 3 was written from scratch in C and has so far been ported to Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Playstation, Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51, MS-DOS, FreeBSD, Haiku OS, Raspberry Pi, and more without trouble. If done right, writing the game from scratch can be vastly beneficial to a project, and during this talk, I will present the approach taken with McPixel 3 that ensured immense platform compatibility and saving time and resources in the long run compared to pre-made engine solutions.
