BEWARE! FF7R PC Is A Mess | Resolution & FPS Issues - RTX 3080 Ti & RTX 3060 Testing
0Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been released on the PC, and while its awesome PC gamers finally get to play FF7R, there are a number of present issues with the build.
The launch version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake does include the Yuffie DLC, and various other 'bonuses' - but its also rather pricey too. This is fine, but those costs should be offset with a pretty excellent port.
Unfortunately, in the early release (hopefully this'll be patched out) there are a number of problems. FPS settings in the game basically adjust the in game resolution (basically, upscaling from a lower resolution in an effort to achieve higher frame rates).
In addition, there's a number of technical issues such as stuttering, but also serious frame pacing and duplicate frame issues. Lower resolutions and / or FPS settings do help somewhat here, but they still rear their ugly head.
With an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the game reports 120Hz essentially locked (albeit, we can see a bit of visual quality loss thanks to FF7R's aforemented dynamic resolution). However, there are clearly duplicate frames happening - so the games engine is misreporting things.
This hopefully can be patched out. It's a big shame though that we have essentially console parity to the PS5's Visual Quality mode, rather than improved visuals which we saw in other SquareEnix ports, such as Final Fantasy 15 which added a host of visual improvements over the console release, and even was one of the debuts of Nvidia's DLSS technology too.
