Beyond Good and Evil Part 33: The End
So, after shooting down that stupid ship, we draw closer to the end of the game and, with it, I will be talking about my final thoughts down in this description which will be mentioning some spoilers so, if you haven’t seen/played this game and don’t want to be spoiled, then you should probably stop reading this. My over thoughts on this game is rather confusing because there are some aspects that I really enjoyed and others that confused my (and yes, I am talking about the ending; I’m not sure if it was a great ending or really anti-climactic). Overall, I enjoyed most of my time with this and only really struggled through some of the sneaking parts of the game (Mostly my own fault for being awful at stealth). I also want to mention the complete lack of help the game gives you (or in this case, doesn’t give you) was both interesting and annoying at the same time. It felt cool to find out where I was going but that was after spending like twenty minutes running around looking for where to go. I would’ve liked a little more hand-holding but, I can understand why they don’t. The combat in this game is alright as long as you don’t get surrounded by more than a couple of enemies. The puzzles, in most cases, were fun to do but, as I mentioned, this game doesn’t hold your hand so if during your first playthrough, you’ll be kind of lost for a while until you understand what is going on (case in point, this entire walkthrough was my first time playing this game although, I might’ve been really stupid and just didn’t realize what I was doing). The car mechanics were a little weird and I thought I was going to have some issues with them when I first started to play but, as I progressed through the game, I got used to them. The characters in this game were fairly cool (I do still have to apologize to Double H for not really believing that was him when we met them because I forgot they showed us an image of him). The overall story for this game is really interesting but, one of the biggest problems I had with this game is the ending. As I mentioned earlier, I don’t know whether it was a really cool ending that leaves much to the imagination or a really bad ending that throws too much new information without explaining anything. The fact that Shaundi has ties with the DomZ, her healing power that she uses to revive everyone, that weird disease that they show both Double H and Pey’j having; All this is never really explained or, at the very least, I wasn’t paying attention (I do doubt that though because these are all really interesting things that occur so I should’ve been paying attention). If they wanted a cliffhanger, they ended on a really big one which I do hope they make a sequel that will explain even half of this. By itself though, it doesn’t really tie too much together, is utterly confusing and raises more questions than answers. That being said, I do like the fact that the game makes you think and try and explain things by yourself, so I’m in two minds about the ending. If I did miss something huge in the game (maybe I was supposed to collect all the pearls to get the “Real Ending” where they explain literally everything), then let me know so I can change my mind on this ending. The game itself is rather fun to play through but, the ending is strange and bizarre to say the least.
