Having 5+ year old games run acceptably on the Switch is maybe not the wildest concept in this day and age (especially after the recent release of Crysis Remastered), but somehow I can't stop myself from being pleasantly surprised by the overall look and performance of most ports to Nintendo's modestly specced console.

During a recent sale I picked up the Switch versions of both the Bioshock and Borderlands collections, and have now (much to my own surprise) spent much of the weekend checking these familiar old games out in both docked and handheld mode. I expected Bioshock Infinite to chug a little - seeing as it is the most technically advanced of the games in question - but it runs very smoothly during the busy and heavily scripted first few levels. The resolution is certainly reduced, but the game's extravagant art style and elaborate environmental designs shine through and it doesn't feel like I'm missing out on much of the original experience.
