BL3 Blog 20230620 How to Use Remnant for Eista, Gythian, and the Wendigo
2I've recently brought my damage record with Amara, in a fire damage vs. flesh HP scenario, up to over 181 ๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ damage. This completely absurd power that Amara has can be frustrating, at times, because it is only available when there is a "trash mob" nearby that you can use for Remnant.
Bosses like Eista don't have such enemies nearby...or do they? In the video, I generate a Remnant from 2 enemies outside of the arena, lure it into a 3rd enemy nearby, then run to Eista to hit them with Groundbreaker just after Remnant's damage empowers Groundbreaker. As boosts to Groundbreaker only last for 5 seconds, I relied on Eista choosing shorter dialogue (random, and a save reload is required) to save time, and I got there in time using Speed Demon with 6/3 Mindfulness and Snowdrift.
The Heart of Gythian is strangely immune to Groundbreaker, from direct punches, or from Face-puncher shots. It is also immune to Phaseflare, which is itself probably the best option Amara has for Evil Lilith (which truly is a 1v1 fight; Evil Lilith can just be burned with an Unleash the Dragon artifact, too). Even Indiscriminate and Ties That Bind do not seem to work well against this boss. Fortunately, you can trick Remnant into targeting invisible things next to you while you're on the other side of the boss from where Remnant spawns from, thus luring Remnant into the boss (which it won't target on its own), killing the boss instantly.
The Wendigo does have enemies near it, but it likes to stay just out of range of Ties That Bind. As a result, Ties That Bind is a great solution for dealing with Evil Brick and Evil Mordecai, but it's rather useless for the Wendigo...unless you use it to generate a Remnant orb. You don't need to bother luring the Remnant orb into the Wendigo, however - just lure it into another enemy nearby, then fire your Remnant boosted Groundbreaker shot into the Wendigo to knock it down. This "slingshot" technique (as I like to call it), which is also what I used for Eista, works on Psychoreaver's 2nd phase as well. Groundbreaker gives Amara a lot of options and range, and can even let her make the damage of Remnant have an AoE.
When Evil Brick and Evil Mordecai are close to each other, it allows Amara to hit them for 10s, or even 100s, of billions of damage, with Ties That Bind boosting a Fish Slap's damage - ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐กโ๐๐๐ค. Amara can also do 500 billion damage with one Unleash the Dragon DOT, by using a Fish Slap with the Guardian 4N631, then switching to an Elemental Projector artifact after the DOT is applied. With Phaseflare, Amara can do 500 billion damage with a single cast without the Gangel, and closer to 1.6 trillion with a Gangel.
Not only is Amara's strongest damage source around 100,000x stronger than that of any other BL3 vault hunter, but she can frequently use it, even in seemingly hopeless situations, and her Phaseflare competes with the DPS of the other characters regardless. Partali meta. ๐ช
