Yeah, it turns out, I've been doing it wrong. Up till now, I have been trying to get to the boss quickly, to conserve HP. BAD idea; heals often can be found along the way. Do not rush. Stop to get keys to gather loots. Only took me dozens of deaths and 4+ hours of gameplay to figure out how to play right.
