Throughout the video game timeline, action platformers have always been popular to create and play,
with few who have really tried much new in the genre.
But that's not a bad thing at all, as it gives players a sense of instant familiarity with a new game in this genre.
Blind Fate: Edo no Yami brings together both a feudal Japan and a postmodern cyberpunk Japanese setting, offering a mix of fast-paced and more strategic action.
There is nothing else like this on the market and that is an impressive feat for a genre that has had so many entries in recent years.
While the player generally has a reasonably lit view, there are times when you're in the dark which makes identifying direct enemies not always easy, which is a fascinating approach.
The heat sensor allows you to detect areas where you can go back and forth along an enemy's heat trail. Sometimes an enemy doesn't have a heat trace - in which case you may need to use the sense of smell. So where the enemy has left a body trail, you can follow that trail to them and take them out.
However, Blind Fate's graphics are also very interesting with the colorful cyberpunk environments
The characters all look good and things like neon effects in nighttime environments are amazing. Likewise, woodland areas look beautiful with nice foliage.
Blind Fate: Edo no Yami is a good action game with quite a bit of variety in platforming types with a mix of swordplay, platforming and sense-based puzzles.
