Bloody Tears is a music theme originally composed by Kenichi Matsubara for Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. It is the background theme used in all external areas (not towns) during daytime.
The track has since been arranged multiple times throughout the course of the Castlevania series and has become one of its most popular tracks to date.
Kenichi Matsubara (まつばら けんいち Matsubara Kenichi?) is a Japanese video game composer. He worked at Konami during the late eighties and early nineties as part of the Konami Kukeiha Club, and composed themes for Castlevania II: Simon's Quest and Haunted Castle.
He is credited as the original author of "Bloody Tears", one of the series' most well known tracks to date.
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, known in Japan as Dorakyura II: Noroi no Fūin (ドラキュラⅡ 呪いの封印? lit. "Dracula II: Seal of the Curse"), is an action-adventure platform game developed by Konami in 1987 for the Famicom Disk System. It was ported to cartridge format in 1988 and released in North America for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The game features Simon Belmont as the protagonist and takes place in 1698, seven years after the first game.
