25Known in Japan as Custom Battler Bomberman or カスタムバトラー ボンバーマン the European name needlessly tries to tie it in with the previous Bomberman game on DS. Despite being a very different game in many areas, Custom Battler Bomberman is by far the best Bomberman game released in recent years on a handheld system and adds in some much needed improvements to the format. Custom Battler Bomberman features a cyber theme and this time round Bomberman is an anti-virus program sent in to stop the spread of a cyber virus. Gameplay is very much in the classic Bomberman feel, however stages are made up of multiple areas. A locked door usually bars you from the next section of each area and each stage usually has a few mini missions for you to clear in order to move on from one area to the next these include defeating set enemies or to destroy beacons. The custom tag in the Japanese name is due to fact that different parts and gears you can equip. Gives you different abilities and spec, so customising Bomberman for the mission ahead is the key to victory. Hudson Soft / Konami choose not to release this in North America making this a must have import for them.

All footage in this video is captured directly from DeSmuMe and was compared directly with the original cartridge version on Nintendo DS to insure the gameplay is as close as possible. Aside from some minor added slowdown the gameplay closely matches the original hardware.
