Land 1 has this RPG mode in it, called Special Mode (which really doesn't do it justice.) Essentially you walk around one big Bomberman board and each time you kill an enemy, you earn EXP. As you level up, your amount of bombs and fire increases so you become much stronger. You must find three keys to unlock the cells that house the other three Bombermen. They will follow you around and then you must find the door where you will battle Dark Bomber and save the day.

A fun little mode and feels like a precursor to Survival Bomberman which appeared in Land 2 and Kart DX. Its fairly short as you can see but a fun run nonetheless.
