헬기를 조종해 지하를 파고들며 보석을 수집하고 행성을 탐사하는 수직 스크롤 방식의 아케이드 굴착 액션 게임입니다. 단순하면서도 묘하게 중독적인 조작감과 점진적인 성장 구조가 어우러져, 조용히 시간을 잡아끄는 매력을 가지고 있죠.
기본 조작은 매우 직관적입니다. 탄환을 발사해 주변의 블록을 파괴하고 보석을 수집하면 되며, 일정 에너지가 차오르면 특수 능력인 무적 대시를 발동해 장애물도 뚫고 나아갈 수 있습니다. 하지만 평상시엔 블록에 부딪힐 경우 내구도가 감소하고, 연료가 다 떨어져도 게임 오버가 되므로 자원 관리가 매우 중요합니다. 연료 박스와 내구도 회복, 그리고 순간적인 회피 판단이 생존의 열쇠죠.
굴착 중 수집한 보석은 임시 업그레이드의 형태로 돌아오며, 탄의 성능 향상이나 자동 폭탄 생성 등 다양한 효과를 제공합니다. 임시 업그레이드 외에도, 각 행성 탐사 후에는 테크 스미스로 복귀하여 내구도, 화력, 수집 범위 등의 항목을 영구 강화할 수 있어 다음 도전에 대비할 수 있습니다.
행성 구조는 점점 복잡해지며, 중력, 속도 저하, 산성 용액, 독가스, 몬스터 등 다양한 위협 요소들이 추가됩니다. 단순히 땅을 파는 것에서 끝나지 않고, 지역마다 고유한 환경에 적응하며 전략을 바꿔야 하죠.
스토리 모드도 포함되어 있으며, 특정 장비나 캐릭터가 요구되는 퀘스트가 등장합니다. 하지만 퀘스트 진행과 관련된 정보가 거의 없어 직관성이 떨어지고, 특정 상황에서는 스토리 이벤트로 인해 플레이 흐름이 갑자기 끊기거나 실패 판정을 받는 경우도 있어 불편함이 있습니다. 반복되는 퀘스트 구조와 강제적인 캐릭터 전환, 도감 확인 불가 등의 인터페이스 문제도 아쉬운 부분으로 지적됩니다.
그럼에도 불구하고, 단순한 조작과 핵앤슬래시에 가까운 파괴의 쾌감, 그리고 서서히 넓어지는 탐사 구역 속에서 느껴지는 성장은 충분히 즐길 만합니다. 가볍게 파고드는 ‘굴착+업그레이드+반복’의 매력을 느끼고 싶은 분들에게 추천할 수 있는 작품입니다.

BORE BLASTERS puts you in control of a drilling helicopter, blasting through underground layers in search of precious gems and tech upgrades. With fast-paced vertical digging, temporary boosts, and rogue-lite progression, it's a chaotic but satisfying descent into pixelated depths.
You'll destroy blocks, dodge hazards, and gather gems while managing fuel and hull integrity. When fully charged, your special ability lets you dash through obstacles unscathed—perfect for escaping tight spots or accelerating your dig. Otherwise, any contact with terrain reduces your hull, and running out of fuel ends the run.
Collected gems provide temporary upgrades mid-run—faster bullets, timed bombs, enhanced boosts—while completing a run lets you return to the Tech Smith and permanently upgrade your ship’s durability, firepower, and collection radius. Each planet adds new challenges: acid pools, flying toxins, hostile creatures, or slippery ice that all demand different strategies.
Story quests attempt to add structure but often break immersion with poorly-timed cutscenes and unclear objectives. You’ll sometimes be forced to play specific characters or restart missions due to invisible triggers. UI quirks like unskippable menus and limited key remapping also detract from the overall flow.
Still, at its core, BORE BLASTERS delivers fast, destructive fun with a satisfying upgrade loop. If you're into arcade-style digging games with a twist of chaos and customization, this one might be worth the blast.
