Borrowed Time (http://www.mobygames.com/game/apple2/borrowed-time) was a graphics adventure game designed by Interplay Productions and published by Activision in 1985 for the Apple ][. The player is private eye Sam Harlow, who is being hunted for reasons unbeknownst to him. He needs to solve the mystery fast, while he is still alive.
