Evoland ist ein Action-Adventure, dass sich an Spielen wie Zelda, Final Fantasy und vielen anderen klassischen Action-/Adventure-/Rollenspielen orientiert. Wie der Name schon sagt, geht es um Evolution, und zwar die der Videospiele: während das Spiel am Anfang noch grafisch und in Sachen Gameplay sehr einfach gestrickt ist, schaltet man schnell neue Fähigkeiten und Features frei. So entwickelt sich zum Beispiel die Grafik des Spiel nach und nach von einem 2D-Pixelbrei hin zu einer bunten 3D-Grafik, und selbst das Kampfsystem ändert sich mit der Zeit - dabei werden viele Erinnerungen an beliebte Klassiker geweckt. Nostalgiefaktor garantiert!
