BotW Master Mode - Divine Beast Vah Medoh
While the rivalry between Link and Revali is not an epic it still shows us a decent anecdote about how we let things like pride get in the way of possibly enriching our lives. What I mean by this is that if we could have had Link and Revali work together like Link and Tebb did without Revali's pride and Link's general passiveness then what we could have had was a duo that could have challenged fate. Or maybe they would met a similar fate to Link but together later at Hateno Fort in some sort of self-correcting destiny. If one thing is apparent it is how cyclical the Zelda series is. It's a shame since Tebb could have been such an interesting character. Seems like his whole character arc is only about him returning to being a father.
It's interesting when you look at Tebb's character design and consider that in his current environment he and his son are the only ones adapted to the harsh snowy climate. His feathers and plume match the mountainous snow covered terrain while almost every other Rito are all colourful and, by comparison, a little bit senseless. They would rather live under the threat of the Divine Beast never knowing when things could change simply because they haven't changed. They have all accepted that there is nothing they can do and have changed their way of life accordingly.
This outlook is made even worse when you consider their leader is a Rito that looks like an owl; a bird commonly associated with Wisdom. In this context we see a microcosm form here with Tebb representing Courage and the Divine Beast the obvious stand-in for Power. The entire situation is absurd when you break it down. The race of bird-people don't fly in their own skies but it is never revealed if it ever has attacked anyone on the ground. If this is the case then why couldn't they just relocate their home? In fact the way I see it they are the only race that is not currently threatened by their Divine Beast by all leaving and resettling somewhere safer. Unless it is simply because Calamity Ganon intentionally leaves Vah Medoh menacingly watching over the Rito people and oppressing them simply because he can.
