BotW Master Mode - Divine Beast Vah Rudania
When all is said and done all of the Champions have flaws but how do those flaws contribute to the calamity and the fall of Hyrule? Here is an analysis of memory #15.
- Champion Mipha's meekness shows itself as the worst possible time. The foreshadowing in the memories (going to be released tomorrow) makes my point much more poignant. We know that she was handing Zelda the key she needed to "unlock" her power in my opinion. If Mipha was more direct she would have been able to tell Zelda what helps her activate her (very likely) divine healing. Zelda might have "unlocked" her power in time to contribute to the war effort before it was way too late.
- Champion Urbosa has a flaw that she hides well enough. She lets her love for Princess Zelda get in the way of the task at hand. In this memory she chooses to coddle Princess Zelda instead of providing any solutions during the Zero Hour of the Calamity. The fate of Hyrule is about to be decided for the next 100 years and she does not help anything. Her desire to protect and the responsibility she feels for Zelda gets in the way of any meaningful dialogue about solutions to their current situation. To top it all off her consolation does not even work.
- Champion Revali. I would love to sit here and tell you he is the problem but in this memory he is the only one to perform in his role. Granted his role is a small one but it gets done. However right when you think he understands the situation and that he has put aside his feelings for the upcoming fight you get that one moment with the scoff and you see his pride is still getting in the way of unit cohesion. There has never been a more crucial moment for him to be a member of this team and he is still not ready. He does not offer any solutions to their current situation even though his concern has been seen already.
- Champion Daruk has been put in a losing situation and his inability to provide any meaningful insight shows. He does not say anything that the team does not already know. His soft direction takes away from the direness of the situation. If he is going to assume the leadership role in the team he needs to TAKE command. At the end of the memory when Zelda pleads for a role in the fight to come he SCRATCHES HIS HEAD. You cannot give your team doubts in your leadership abilities in conflict of any kind; even more so when it is moments before the worst fight in the conflict.
