Before we went gallivanting about, Kamiizumi asked for our presence in the Florem Gardens. He didn't give any details, because why would he, but when we get there, well, there's just too many people.

Remember Angelo and Aimee? Well, they got their memories of the broken cycle in the form of dreams, and it brought about a change of heart. They gave up fighting and opened up a pancake shop in Aimee's homeland. They're very clearly happy together, but there's just one thing: they saw us kicking their ass so many times that just looking at us pisses them off. And so, we fight them together.

Of course, they're still no match for us. Yew extends an invitation for them to open a shop in Gathelatio, and we can finally carry out our plan. In the depths of the Gardens is a place where a whole bunch of cats gather. In fact, it's where Kamiizumi first met Tsubaki, and sure enough, there he is again. More importantly, though, is to loudly announce that we're taking the compass of space and time over to Sagitta. The plan is to lure the Skyhold there to blast them out of the sky with the cannon, and... it works!

By the way, here's that barking cat video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgIfcmDI9K4

Minette blames herself for falling for the trap, so she decides to make up for it by attacking. She's got a couple new tricks up her sleeve, but nothing I can't handle. In her defeat, we learn from Professor Norzen that her mother worked under him to make a vaccine for the Great Plague. She noticed that cats weren't affected by it, and even experimented on herself and Minette to find out why. To spare her from loneliness, Kamiizumi offers to take her in and let her live in cat-like peace.

As for the Skyhold, it flees towards Eternia, but Norzen has our back. With the help of some students, he pulls off an ocean-based version of his whirlwind to trap it in place. Now's our chance to challenge the Kaiser in the throne room!

...But it's not him waiting for us. It's Janne and Nikolai. In a way, they're happy to see Yew again. Janne even feels that Yew truly understood him at the end. But they've chosen their path, and they refuse to back down. But, hey, I took them out before, I can do it again. Yew refuses to kill them, though, and offers an alternative path: he wants to relinquish his family's control of the Crystalguard to the Orthodoxy itself, which will itself share control with the other governments of the world.

That just leaves the Kaiser himself, who's in the House Geneolgia crypt. As a dungeon, it's haunted with monsters, so that's fun. When we find him, he's at the resting place for Foundar Geneolgia himself. He explains the corrupt and bloody past of the family, and that those who tried to reform the family for the better were essentially erased. Denys wanted to go back in time and kill Foundar and undo all the harm the Geneolgia family had caused. Yew, having seen the state of the world after Denys goes back in time, has no choice but to fight his brother. And win, of course.

Victory earns us the Kaiser asterisk. The Kaiser is all about changing battle conditions, which, ehhh, I'm not a fan of. Raising everyone's attacks, flipping physical and magical defenses, inverting initiative, increasing (or decreasing) everyone's BP, blocking all recovery... It's all a double-edged sword, and I'm just not into it.

Anyway, in defeat, Denys is ready to offer up his life in atonement for his crimes. He's got a bit of survivor's guilt, you see, and he can't possibly imagine living when all his comrades sacrificed themselves for *his* cause. All he wants is a swift and merciful death to face them again and offer his apologies. Of course, they're all actually alive, so it's all good. We can trust him to be free and return home.

After a big feast where Yew may or may not have put his foot in his mouth regarding Magnolia, the reunited brothers catch up in those famous Yunohana baths. It really does look like a new beginning for Denys, but suddenly...! The Holy Pillar has appeared! Only Agnès should have that power, so what's going on?

We'll have to find out next time!
