British Army Rugby 7s Rhinedahlen victor 10.05.12
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards have won the British Army Germany Rugby Sevens tournament in Rheindahlen.
It was the last time the tournament will ever be held in JHQ before the base closes and for such a historic occasion, the players did not disappoint.
Fourteen teams took part in the two-day competition with the best six battling it out in three exciting finals.
In the Bowl final it was extremely close right up to the final whistle with 14 Geo Squadron leading for the minor units and just clinching the match over 2 Battalion REME by 14 points to 12.
Soon to disband 7 Regiment RLC went out with a bang in the Plate final as they took possession and beat 32 Engineers by 36 to 5.
But the big match was between 5 RIFLES and the Scots Dragoon Guards for the Cox Cup. Having lost to 5 RIFLES in the group stages Scots DG were out for revenge, which spurred them on to score a flurry of tries and triumph by 51 to 5.
The Scots DG, 5 RIFLES and 28 Engineers will now head to Aldershot to take part in the Army wide sevens competition next week.
