Developed by Datasoft and published in 1984.

Take control of Bruce Lee as he infiltrates an evil wizard's fortress in the search for riches and immortality.

Given Bruce Lee was as much a philosopher and man of intellect as we was a martial artist, I find the whole premise of this game to be out of sorts with the character on which it is based. However, let's put the story to one side and consider the actual game.

Even today, it's still a really fun game to play!

The basic objective is collect the lanterns hanging from the walls on each of the game's screens. Quite often, collecting a lantern will open an exit to another screen, allowing you to progress.

Each screen has multiple obstacles to overcome, including jumps, spikes, poisoned darts and various other things you don't want to touch.

On top of that, you also have to face off against 2 CPU controlled opponents, the ninja and the Green Yamo (seriously, what the hell is a yamo and why is he green?!). The ninja tries to poke you with his sword/staff, whilst the Yamo is a martial arts master and will attempt to punch and flying-kick you. Bruce can fight back against these opponents using punches, kicks and can even go prone to avoid blows entirely.

Although it's fun to to fight the enemies, it's even more fun to lure them into traps, or to have them kill each other. The ninja often ends up being the unfortunate filling in a Bruce-Yamo foot sandwich.

Interestingly enough, a second player can actually control the Yamo and can decide to either aid or hinder the player controlling Bruce. As before, it's much more fun to both gang up on the ninja and be a big pair of bullies!

The graphics and sounds are functional, but they all just work in this off-the-wall game.

This is a classic that's still great fun to play.

Enjoy!
