Brushing Your Teeth the Ancient Way - Teeth Cleaning Twig the Classic Toothbrush of Africa and Asia
In ancient times before the invention of the tooth brush people needed a way to clean their teeth. To do this they used various plants that are collectively known as Teeth Cleaning Twigs AKA Chewing Sticks. This traditional practice for maintaining oral hygiene is found throughout Africa and Asia.
Our focus today is primarily on Nigeria's local teeth whiteners. These sticks have been used and still are use in modern times due to its teeth whitening abilities and other amazing health benefits. Though toothbrushes are a common thing to many African and Asian people, before the toothbrush existed they used natural plants to maintain oral hygiene.
In some areas, like rural Kenya many people have never heard of them toothbrushes. Yet these twigs keep their teeth are white and healthy, because these villagers continuously brush their teeth with twigs. Many still prefer chewing sticks even after trying a toothbrush.
