Brutal Doom is a Mod for Vanilla Doom, compatible with all the games running on the old engine (Doom, Doom 2: Hell on earth, TNT Evilution and the Plutonia Experiment), that adds tons of gore elements, new weapons, new enemy attacks and makes the game insanely fucking difficult. It is completely free to play, you just need to Download GzDoom to run it and the map Wad's you wish it play it on.

Much like my Psx Doom Walkthrough, I was initially planning on doing all of Brutal Doom in one video, however as the PC version of Vanilla Doom breaks the game down into 4 chapters, I thought I would split it into 4 sections too. Each chapter has you losing all your weapons so it felt like natural start and stop points.

I wanted to do another 100% Kills, Items and Secrets guide to show the differences between Pc and Psx Doom, but I feared it would be too dull to play through Doom twice on this channel. My prayers were answered with Brutal Doom as they were kind enough to release a new difficulty mode. Realism mode will see Imp Fireballs and point blank shotgun blasts deal over 100 damage. Just one mistake, or allowing even a weak, cannon fodder enemy to snuck up on you can instakill you. For a Dark sould loving masochist like me, it was stiffy inducing.

The Mod includes several new weapons, although only the frag grenade and assualt rifle will be seen here. The assault rifle replaces the pistol and is a pretty useful and versatile weapon throghout now. They can be dual wielded, where the rate of fire and spread can be excellent for clearing out rooms if you are unsure of you aim (especially if you are playng with a controller like me). The frag grenade has a suprisingly large AOE and can be used to clear a room out if you know there are enemies round the corner. There are few things more satisfying than tossing a grenade and watchingg viscera explode round the corner.

Unfortunately, several maps require you to traverse sections of acid for brief stints. Even as short as these sections are, they will devastate you on Realisms mode. The best way I have found to overcome this is to constantly jump whilst in acid lakes. If you are lucky, you can avouid damage altogether in the shorter sections and minimise it in the longer ones.
