Scifi Rollenspiel in der Tradition der Goldbox Spiele, 1990 von SSI entwickelt und auch vertrieben. Buck Rogers Countdown to Doomsday ist zwar sichtbar ein Goldbox Spiel, hat aber aufgrund des Spielhintergrundes doch einige Besonderheiten zu bieten. Natürlich konnte ein Buck Rogers Spiel keine Magie enthalten, dafür ist ein Fähigkeitensystem implementiert worden, welches viele, scifi-typische Eigenschaften wie Computer Hacking, Raumschiffe fliegen und reparieren und Weltraumnavigation beinhaltet.Später bekommt die Party (oder besser gesagt die Mannschaft) ein eigenes Raumschiff, mit denen man die verschiedenen Planeten anfliegen und sogar gegen die bösen RAM und gegen Raider Schiffe eine Raumschlacht kämpfen kann.
