-Taunt (Inflicts Taunt on a single party member, preventing them from doing anything other than normal attacks. Doesn't take up Kabbu's action)

This is a fight that can catch you off guard if you weren't expecting it. Like Acolyte Aria you only have two party members here, and since you're fighting Kabbu you don't have his Taunt to redirect attacks. In addition to that, all of his attacks hit pretty hard, especially when backed by Kali's constant buffs, and Taunt can really mess with you.

It looks like a very tough fight at first glance, but there's three things that make it much easier than it looks:

1. Only Kali's health matters. The fight ends when she's beaten.
2. Kali relies on Kabbu for the entirety of her offense. She has no direct attacks of her own.
3. Kabbu has no resistance to sleep whatsoever, and Kali has no way of curing it.

A good supply of numbnail darts or another sleep-inflicting item are all you need to completely defang this fight. While Kabbu snoozes, lay into Kali with your strongest attacks, ideally backed up by medals such as Hard Charge and Poison Attacker as well as attack boosting items or Empower. Her health isn't that high, so it shouldn't take long at all to bring this madness to a close.

On the off chance you run out of sleep inducers before Kali runs out of HP, having some backup defensive options will give you a good safety net. Leif's Cleanse can remove Kali's buffs if they get too overbearing, First Plating can block one of Kabbu's attacks if he gets one off, Back Support still works even if the position it normally protects isn't available, HP Plus medals will let you take more hits in general, and a good supply of the best healing items you can get will further ensure you'll have enough HP and TP to finish things.

Bug Fables is a 2019 turn-based RPG created by Moonsprout Games and published by DANGEN Entertainment. It is heavily inspired by the original two Paper Mario games (Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door) and can be seen as a spiritual successor to them, although it has plenty of quirks of its own.

This playthrough was done on Hardest Mode. This isn't quite the same thing as using the Hard Mode medal, although that's part of it. HARDEST is one of the menu codes uncovered by doing certain things in the game, which serve as mutators when entered into the naming screen when creating a new file.
