Get over here! FATALITY.

Boss #8: Dune Scorpion
HP: 51
Defense: 2

Attacks:
-Sting (6 damage to a single character; inflicts Poison)
-Sleep Sting (6 damage to a single character; inflicts Sleep)
-Pinch (Hits a single party member up to two times, dealing 6 damage per hit)
-Boulder Toss (7 damage to the entire party)

The Dune Scorpion can hit your entire party for 7 damage without needing to telegraph it. If that doesn't scream "Finish this fight quickly or die" I don't know what does.

It begins the battle accompanied by a Psicorp. There's no reason to let it live, so finish it off first before focusing on the Dune Scorpion. Despite what Leif's check text might suggest it's vulnerable to freeze; Frigid Coffin can give you some breathing room if you need to heal or just need the extra damage on an attack.

Defense-piercing moves like Vi's Needle Toss and Kabbu's Under Strike work quite well here. Hurricane Toss can still work if you can get Vi's attack high enough (and is mostly what I did here), but Needle Toss is probably better overall for this particular fight. By this point in time you can get ADBP Enhancer, making both moves even more effective at the price of one additional TP.

As for medals and items, all the usuals (Poison Attacker/Defender, Back Support, Super Block+, etc.) are still useful here. You can even use the Scorpion's attacks to activate the Poison medals if you want, though I think Weak Stomach's still better for that. If you can find/afford Tangy Berries Tangy Carpaccios are a strong AoE heal to counter Boulder Toss (Queen's Dinners can be even better if you aren't using poison strats), but if you can't Mushroom Gummies can at least keep you off death's door, particularly if they're boosted by Heal Plus.

Other than Boulder Toss there really isn't a whole lot to note about this boss. I guess after Astotheles any boss would be a breather. I will note that the Dune Scorpion's Hard Mode reward is very good; in fact, it'll help a lot with Monsieur Scarlet if you still haven't beaten him by this point. But that's for another video....

Bug Fables is a 2019 turn-based RPG created by Moonsprout Games and published by DANGEN Entertainment. It is heavily inspired by the original two Paper Mario games (Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door) and can be seen as a spiritual successor to them, although it has plenty of quirks of its own.

Check it out here!: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1082710/Bug_Fables_The_Everlasting_Sapling/

This playthrough was done on Hardest Mode. This isn't quite the same thing as using the Hard Mode medal, although that's part of it. HARDEST is one of the menu codes uncovered by doing certain things in the game, which serve as mutators when entered into the naming screen when creating a new file.

From the Bug Fables wiki (https://bugfables.fandom.com/wiki/Menu_Codes):
-The game is permanently in Hard Mode.
-Wearing the Hard Mode medal turns Team Snakemouth into Pibu.
-All enemies have 15% more HP and deal 1 more damage.
-After defeating Chapter 2's boss: all enemies deal 1 more damage.
-After starting Chapter 4: all enemies have 1 more defense.
-Members of a certain lategame optional boss team have 1 additional point of damage and defense.

Many thanks to the Bug Fables Discord for helping me make sure the information here is accurate.
