The AVENGERS were two guys - one middle aged, the other young - who traveled through time to right the wrongs of the past.
In this particular episode, the pair traveled back to the time of the Salem witch trials.
Because of their advanced technology, which the Puritans believed was witchcraft, they were tried in court. In the courtroom, a group of Puritan young women were screaming theatrically as if in fear, in order to help convict the pair of witchcraft.
After they were tied to the stakes and the fire started burning, the same girls who had been screaming in fear were there watching, and chanting, "Burn, burn, witches burn!"
