Buttobi Striker plays like a compact, prize-based version of soccer distilled into a few seconds of action. It uses a simple timing-and-luck mechanic, typical of Konami’s medal games, but wrapped in a sports theme that makes it more playful and engaging for children.

When a player inserts one or more medals, the game begins with a short animation of a cartoon soccer player preparing to kick. The player presses a single large button (or occasionally a lever, depending on cabinet configuration) to make the character shoot the ball toward the goal. The strength and direction of the kick are determined entirely by timing, pressing too early or too late sends the ball off course, while a perfectly timed press lands it on a central target or special area worth more medals.

The field is divided into target zones, each corresponding to different medal rewards. The lower targets pay out small amounts like one to five medals, while upper or moving targets can yield larger payouts.
The rarest target, usually marked with flashing lights or a golden frame, gives the maximum jackpot of 99 medals. Hitting this zone triggers a distinct victory sequence — the screen flashes, confetti bursts appear, a triumphant jingle plays, and the machine dispenses a large stack of medals into the tray.

Each round is self-contained and lasts only a few moments. After each shot, the player can insert another medal to play again. The simplicity of this structure makes Buttobi Striker continuous and hypnotic, it invites players to keep feeding medals in hopes of hitting the big bonus. The cabinet is designed for high sensory feedback: bright lights, cheerful sounds, and constant motion. Even a small win produces a satisfying clinking of medals, which encourages repeat play.
