"Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" is a platform/shooter video game developed by Traveller's Tales and released by Disney Interactive and Activision in 2000. It draws inspiration from the animated series bearing the same name, which serves as a spin-off of the renowned Toy Story franchise.

Players venture through a multitude of fictional planets, with 12 stages in total. As the protagonist, Buzz Lightyear, you engage in a race against a villain to reach the end of each level. Upon reaching the end, a showdown ensues between Buzz and the antagonist. Throughout the race, players must fend off a variety of enemies aiming to impede Buzz's progress. There are tons of power-ups scattered throughout the stages, obtained through collecting coins. Players also have the option to invest in level shortcuts, including teleportation devices and boost pads, which propel Buzz deeper into the level.

Unfortunately, the physics and controls are cumbersome. Buzz moves sluggishly and handles like a tank, leading to frustrating gameplay. The array of weapons fail to offer much enjoyment due to their lackluster performance, and enemies keep respawning anyway. Defeating enemies yields coins though.

Overall, "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" for the Game Boy Color is a disappointment. It's a blend of platforming, shooting, and arcade racing elements that creates a muddy mix that falls short mainly due to the controls. Visually, the game has plain and uninteresting character designs and sparse, uninspired environments lacking distinctive landmarks to denote progress.
