Lightforce X-SID 16:48 to the End :)
Note The 6581R3s compared to the 8580R5 all sound different. None reproduce exactly the same sound in terms of melodies. This is due to the manufacturing and the filters which were more random ! We can say that the X-SID is validated for 28 euros !
A beautiful chip designed by Axl81l. A nice evolution of the nanoswinsid with bassboost and various optimizations. Nothing to do with the flat sound of the nano. The sound is also higher respecting the original sid. There are also fewer glitches than the nano. Very good compatibility overall. Configurable by simple jumper in 6581 or 8580 and in red or blue light to differentiate. No replacement solution is perfect and we can only thank the chip designers. Armsid, Nanoswinsid, Backsid, X-SID, FPGA sid. Without them our dear C64 would no longer have a voice.
Notice also to the detractors of nanoswinsid. It has the merit of playing again with sound for around 15 euros. For those who don't pay too much attention to quality, it is a very valid solution. This also depends on your budget.
Here is a comparison of the original SID 6581R3 against the X-SID! Please note that if you no longer have an original sid, it will cost you more to buy an original chip and it must be operational!
Don't hesitate to subscribe and leave a little thumbs up for the work :) I don't receive any royalties :)
Thank you for your audience.
Coming soon, a video explaining how the different chips work and a personal opinion that can help speechless Commodore 64 owners! Do not hesitate to ask questions. There will also be a video comparing the Armsid, Backsid, X-SID, 6581R3, 6581R4 and FPGA SID (too expensive in investment)
