C64 Pitstop II tape loader & gameplay
Pitstop II was released in 1984 for the Commodore 64 and featured split-screen racing action at some of the world's most popular tracks at that time.
Not only did you need to defeat your opponent, you also had to keep an eye on your tire condition and fuel level. If your tires blew out or you ran out of fuel in the middle of a lap your race was effectively over. To avoid this scenario you'd need to pit your car at the end of a lap and then navigate your two mechanics to swap out the damaged tire(s) and refuel. Naturally going in for a pitstop will cost you valuable time and possibly the race lead. As you'll see in this gameplay video, I opted to skip the pitstop and it cost me dearly. Great fun nonetheless!
