Zaxxon for the Commodore 64 was released in 1984 and is the classic diagonal shoot'em up. This video features several minutes of gameplay but my recollection from 30+ years ago was that this game actually played a lot faster than what is seen in this video.

Interesting detail about this video is that it almost didn't get made because upon the first take I realized the cassette counter was advancing but one of the reels was not; turned out the tape had cut. This required the cassette to be disassembled so the tape could be re-spliced. Fortunately the tape had cut between the reel and the leader tape so the re-splice didn't pose any issue to the actual recorded section.
