I think everyone has noticed Call of Duty maps seem to be getting smaller and smaller since Black Ops, but I wanted to actually test this. I walked around each map, testing how long it takes to traverse the perimeter of all 106 vanilla maps from CoD 1 through MW3 and of course WW2 to compare them and truly see if WW2's maps were too small.

*Disclaimer*
I do not claim that my testing method is completely representative of how large each CoD map feels. Maps with open designs and long sightlines feel larger than CQB heavy maps, even if the perimeter would suggest otherwise. Again, I used this method for its simplicity; it is not a comprehensive representation.
Some maps have multiple stories, and those which have significant enough multi-level sections had the extra levels factored into the final time. For example, Subbase from MW2 has a significant second story which added to the perimeter time because I included the time it takes to walk around the extra story. However, many of the maps have smaller second stories, typically in a small house, and I did not think it necessary to add their perimeters to the final time. This is one reason the margin of error is quite high. Anyways, I hope you understand everything I am saying and can learn something about Call of Duty from this data.
