Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Mission 12: Old Comrades
3Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) is First Person Shooter developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. A reboot of the Modern Warfare sub-series, this new entry in a popular franchise presents the return of the legendary SAS Captain John Price and the introduction of new faces CIA officer “Alex”, SAS Sergeant Kyle Garrick and rebel leader Farah Karim who can be considered the main protagonists of the series as they are the player-controlled characters in the whole campaign. The said characters will need to team up to combat the rising threats in the fictional country of Urzikstan brought about by a group called Al-Qatala and its leader Omar “The Wolf” Sulaman and the Russian forces invading it lead by General Barkov.
A game that received a metacritic score of 80 in PS4/Xbone and 81 in PC. Praises were given on its gameplay, graphics, multiplayer and the quality of its campaign which were considered by many as one of the best in the franchise. However, criticisms were focused on controversial subjects handled by the main campaign as well as the balancing in its online modes. Regardless, the game was still considered an upgrade compared to majority the previous titles released on the franchise.
My comments in the game are only limited to the campaign as it’s the only thing I played (the Spec Ops is unplayable for me due to problems I can’t solve in the PS4). This is the first Call of Duty game I played, thus I have no idea with the other titles in the franchise. In terms of praises, I really love the high quality production of its campaign. Its graphics are detailed. Even if some details or information in the game are fictional, its overall setting is still realistic or at least close to reality. As regards the issues on controversial matters, it did not matter to me as it highlighted the cruelties and consequences of war and that every person, regardless of gender are still a threat if you are not cautious. Outside of my issues in the Spec Ops part of the game, the campaign was a really great experience for me albeit short.
