Hey guys, delighted to be back with another WORLD RECORD speedrun! ⏱️

This week we attack the Tacitus Interruptus mission - a mission with some serious firepower to deal with from the outset! The requirement is for you to stop the "Tacitus" (GDI MCV) from moving by damaging it, and then to capture it with a Nod Saboteur after it deployes, all whilst taking on a set of Zocom's Shatterer Tanks and Zone Troopers. (A set which will obliterate your troops in a few seconds if you're not careful.)

You must then move the Tacitus MCV to the extraction point whilst being chased first by more ZocomTroops and Air, and finally by chasing Scrin units.

Furthermore you're required to drop three Tiberium Vein Detonations, which have a 1m35s cooldown (meaning two cooldown periods), after building the Tech Centre and Tiberium Chemical Plant, that is...

... AND not to forget the Intel, which requires you to engage a Shard Walker, destroy a Reaper Tripod and explore the northern GDI front to trigger the Shielded Harvester Intel.

Easy, eh?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I always say, I want to create original strats and entertaining runs, and not copy the previous speedrun. This mission had proved to be a very challenging one, which actually lead to me scratching my head and genuinely wondering if I'd have a release this week. I even considered trying another of the remaining missions - I mean what's the point in just copying Poochies' previous run?

Anyway, after much experimentation I decided that the shock-and-awe Mine Drop approach would be the only one that would allow me to capture the Tacitus MCV at speed. The tactic is to maneuver the MCV in front of the Zocom Troops by having them fire at a Raider Buggy and then drop the mines on top of them whilst the maneuver back into their position, relative to the MCV. The initial compliment of Nod Vehicles can then take advantage of that situation, whilst sustaining minimal losses.

(You may also notice residual mines, which slow the Zocom secondary units.)

That's the hard part done. Most resets occur here.

Now we simpy stealth the MCV and get it moving towards the trigger for the end of the mission and get our units out of there. (Note that the MCV may be revealed by the GDI Pitbulls, which is actually a serious problem.)

If all goes right, we simply engage the following troops periodically to the MCV rest point, just south of the ramp, dwindling their numbers before we arrive. We also upgrade to Laser Capacitors at the same time and amass Venoms. The likelihood is that we'll lose everything but the Venoms, which are then free to clear the area whilst the MCV sits stealthed in poisition.

The Venoms are then used to complete the Intel objectives whilst we drop the Tibeirum Vien Detonations. The MCV should be moved when the cooldown of the Detonation is at the 25% remaining mark, to time the end of the mission correctly. (Watch the number 3 Objective marker move at the end.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The mission's minimum completion time is dependant on the Tiberium Vien Detonation's availability. It could be a little quicker, but I am very pleased with the result.

I hope you guys are too!

I look forward to seeing you in the next one. Stay awesome!
