Capcom vs SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro - Arcade Mode - Playstation Gameplay - Ken/Mai/Yuri - 720P
Gameplay footage of the PS1 port of Capcom VS SNK Pro. This version of the game was heavily downgraded from the Sega Dreamcast release and when i say downgraded....boy.....do I mean downgraded.
Here's a list of just some of the things this port went through to be ported to the PS1 and the differences between the Dreamcast edition.
1) Character sprites - These were already bad looking but now there even more pixelated and blurred on the PS1.
2) Lower textures and resolution backgrounds - In the DC game the backgrounds look fresh and very animated (characters in backdrops) with lots of color and a clear resolution to them (480i for the DC) but with the PS1 port all the backgrounds have much lower quality to them and look grainy and the people in the backgrounds have also been given less animations to them making them look static and blurred.
3) Audio quality - This is a strange one but the PS1 edition of the game has lower quality SFX and BGM when compared to the DC version. If you watch this video and then watch the DC one you'll be able to hear what I mean within about 1 minute.
4) Downgraded Menu's - Again a strange one but even the Menu's have been taken down a peg. Whilst the DC edition of the game has fully rendered 3D menu"s and backdrops the PS1 version has flat 2D menu's and a much lower quality created background. Even the games main menu now looks worse.
5) Loading Times - This was to be expected but it really is very annoying. Just watch and see how constantly 'now loading' pops up. You cant even go from the main menu to the next without a 'Now Loading' icon popping up.
6) Missing Shadows - You might not notice this one but in the DC edition of the game if your in the street stage or the car accident stage when you walk past a light that's directed at you then you get a huge shadow of yourself shown behind you against a wall. In the PS1 version this was removed because I assume the PS1 cannot handle shadows duplicating your characters actions?
7) Extremely low quality ending video. I dont really understand this one....I really dont. in the PS1 version the endings (Geese or Bison) are a pixelated grainy mess. It's almost as if someone took the footage and recorded it off their phone. The quality is absolutely terrible when compared to the Dreamcasts high quality versions. Its literally just 4-5 static screens.
The game isn't a bad game but if you have played the Dreamcast version of Capcom VS SNK Pro and then play this.....you just cannot help but feel that either Capcom didn't put any effort in, Knew the PS1 limitations and just did what they could, didn't want to do the port but were offered money from Sony to do it.
Gameplay here is of Ken, Mai and Yuri in Arcade mode. Big thanks to Deviant Art user cheshirrrrr for the Chun-Li image used in the thumbnail. All credit goes to them for this fantastic artwork.
